For a period that used to be the dead middle of summer, the developer's own community events calendar is unusually busy from July 18 forward. Three programs run at once, and each was built for a different kind of resident.

Taste of the Ranch, and How to Actually Use It
The prix-fixe stretch is the smartest of the three. From July 18 through August 1, participating restaurants publish exclusive fixed-menu tastings with wine pairings and specialty cocktails. That is a slow-season demand tool dressed up as a food festival, and the mechanics favor the resident.
Here is the piece outsiders miss. The pool of participating restaurants includes both the Main Street veterans and the newer Waterside Place operators. Waterside alone now houses Osteria 500 for made-from-scratch Italian, Korê Steakhouse for Korean barbecue with the downdraft grills the operators described to SRQ Magazine, Good Liquid Brewing Co., Forked at Waterside, and Deep Lagoon Seafood & Oyster House on the lake. The gastropub Allswell, from operators who ran The Malt House and Mezcali in Manhattan, joined the same lineup.
Two weeks of fixed pricing across a roster that big is how you finally settle the running argument in your own household about which of the Waterside restaurants is actually worth a Saturday. Order the tasting at three you have not tried, and the sample size does the work for you.
Prix-fixe menus during a slow week are not a discount. They are a controlled test. Order two dishes you would never order at full price and you learn more about a kitchen in one sitting than three à la carte visits will teach you.
If you have never been, start on the north end of Main Street where Casa Maya, the French bistro across from it, and the sushi and Italian spots cluster within a walkable block. That density is easy to underestimate until you try to park downtown Sarasota on a Saturday and remember why you moved out here.
One Sunday, One Stadium, One Ball
On Sunday, July 19, the 2026 World Cup Final Watch Party takes over Premier Sports Campus. That is the same 140-acre, 23-field complex the developer uses for tournaments most of the year, converted for one afternoon into the largest shared television in East County.
The reason this matters, even if you do not follow soccer, is that Premier Sports Campus rarely hosts a general-admission community event during the summer. Most weekends it is closed tournaments or academy play. A watch party is the rare Sunday when residents get to walk into the complex without a wristband from a travel team. If you have kids in the 6-to-14 range who have never seen the fields at full scale, the final is a soft opening for them.
The tactical note for parents. Premier is off White Eagle Boulevard, not off State Road 70, and the ingress patterns for a watch party are different from a weeknight practice. Give yourself extra time and park on the outer lots.
Christmas in July, Without the Irony
The third program is the one that reads goofiest on paper and turns out to be the most useful. Christmas in July at Main Street runs a coordinated sale weekend with retailers along the corridor and pairs it with the standing First Friday Music on Main event.
Two practical uses for it.
- If you have relatives arriving for the actual holidays in December, this is when to buy the gifts you will otherwise be scrambling for after Thanksgiving. The retailers on Main Street are not competing with mall pricing in July, and the sale weekend gives them a reason to move seasonal inventory before the snowbird calendar restarts in October.
- If you have been meaning to try the newer Main Street tenants but never got around to it, the sidewalk energy on a Christmas in July night is the closest thing to season-lite you will get before November.
The overlap with Music on Main is the part locals game. Music on Main runs the first Friday of each month with live music, kids' activities, and dining, and a portion of proceeds goes to a rotating local nonprofit. If Christmas in July hits the same weekend as the July First Friday, you get sale prices during a live-music street party. That is not a coincidence in the programming. It is a decision.
The Weeknight Anchors That Don't Take July Off
While the marquee programs get the flyers, the weeknight regulars are what actually make July feel full. If you live here and have not built one of these into a monthly rotation, that is the easiest fix on the list.

- Every Sunday, year-round: the Farmers' Market at Waterside Place.
The Farmers' Market at Waterside is the one to flag for new residents. It runs all year, unlike most Florida markets that pause for July heat, which means it doubles as the reliable place to see neighbors on a week when nothing else on the calendar has caught your eye.
What's Actually New to Eat Right Now
A July calendar is only as good as the places filling it, and the roster keeps moving. Three updates worth knowing before you book a Taste of the Ranch reservation.
Saucy! by KFC. The Yum Brands chicken-tender concept opened at 5484 Lena Road on May 4, 2026, in the former PDQ space, per Sarasota Magazine. Yum Brands acquired 13 former PDQ leases in Florida in 2025, and Lakewood Ranch was one of the first conversions on the Gulf Coast. Read that as a signal about how national operators now underwrite the Lena Road corridor, not as a restaurant recommendation.
Kuro Sushi. The Umami Hospitality Group project from Daniel Dokko, who also owns JPAN Sushi & Grill and Korê Steakhouse, is taking over the former Hana Sushi Lounge space at 8126 Lakewood Main St. #102, with an omakase counter starting November 24. Not open yet, but worth watching if you have been asking why Main Street lost a sushi option.
The Waterside dining tier keeps deepening. Deep Lagoon Seafood & Oyster House was billed by the developer as an "upscale casual" concept with lake views when it joined Waterside Place, and it now anchors a lineup that already includes Osteria 500, Korê, Good Liquid, and Forked. Allswell followed with a New York-inflected gastropub menu.
The Local Move for This Week
If you take one thing from this piece, take the calendar overlap.
